The property is the Cervi family ranch — cattle and rodeo country worked by the same family since 1882, more than 140 years, and never for sale until now. Under the grass sat 4,000 acres of natural sand dunes rolling to the horizon: the rarest raw material in golf, and the reason Sand Hills, Bandon, and now Rodeo Dunes exist at all.

For all the big-sky, middle-of-nowhere feel, it’s an easy trip. Rodeo Dunes sits in Roggen, Colorado, straight up I-76 — about 45 minutes from Denver and roughly 42 miles from Denver International Airport. Fly in, drive out onto the plains, and the dunes appear right where you’d least expect them.

3. The Bandon Dunes family

If the pedigree feels familiar, it should. Rodeo Dunes is a Dream Golf project — the company run by Michael and Chris Keiser, sons of Mike Keiser, the man who built Bandon Dunes and reshaped American golf. The family portfolio reads like a bucket list: Bandon, Sand Valley, Cabot, Lido. Rodeo Dunes is the newest name on it — and the family’s first big statement out on the high plains.

4. There’s an actual rodeo

Here’s what puts this place in a category of one: there’s a real rodeo. The Cervi family runs Cervi Championship Rodeo, one of the biggest PRCA stock contractors in the country, and they staged the first-ever Duel at the Dunes — 20 of the best roughstock cowboys riding saddle bronc, bareback, and bulls, in an arena set on the sand between the first and 18th holes. Golf and the American West, on the same ground.

5. Six courses on the board

And the Coore-Crenshaw course is only the opening act. The masterplan for these 4,000 acres runs to as many as six courses. Next up is a second 18 from longtime Coore & Crenshaw associate Jim Craig, joined over time by a short course, an enormous putting green, and a lodge — the full destination-resort blueprint the Keisers wrote at Bandon and Sand Valley.

Public play opens in 2027, and if the preview season is any sign, tee times won’t sit around: the first ones went in days. Colorado’s next great golf destination is here.
